I was putting the finishing touches to my recently remodeled basement “man cave” when I tripped over my tool bag and fell into an old plaster wall that looked much sturdier than it actually was. I wasn’t hurt in the fall but I ended up putting a hole in the wall that was about the size of a basketball. That jagged-edged opening in the wall would change my life in a profound way. Had I had known just what it was that was about to be revealed to me it is very possible I would have hung a poster over it and just forgotten about it. But as I said, I was near the completion of a basement renovation that had taken the better part of a year to do and I wanted people to see it. It looked great and I was proud of the work I had done but now there was a gaping black hole in the wall right behind where I had built the bar and there was no chance of it not being noticed by anyone standing at the bar. I had to fix it and I had under an hour before my wife got home from work. My wife actually worked from home mainly. She was a party planner and did most of her work from her home office.
